The Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences Honours My Work
The prestigious Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences has chosen my photograph to grace the cover of the much-awaited Australasian Sky Guide 2024. To see my work represent a guide that will inspire and educate many about our vast universe is an honour beyond words.
This past weekend, I had the privilege of attending the David Malin Awards in Parks, NSW meeting the legendary David Malin himself! His pioneering work in astronomical photography has been an inspiration to many, myself included. And let’s not forget about ‘The Dish’ – that iconic radio telescope that stands as a testament to Australia’s contribution to space research.
The event was also a delightful reunion of sorts, brimming with ‘cool nerds’ (as I affectionately term us) who are equally obsessed with astrophotography. There’s something truly magical about being in the company of like-minded individuals who understand the thrill of capturing the cosmos.
As if the weekend wasn’t already monumental, my image of the “Running Chicken” received an honourable mention at the awards. The accolades kept pouring in as I found out my work will be showcased in a national exhibition that embarks on an Australian tour for a year! But wait, there’s more – my image will also make an appearance in the coveted calendar and proudly serve as the landing page for the David Malin Awards website.
