Description:
Just off the path of the gigantic Vela supernova remnant you will find Gum 10 (RCW 19), a beautiful emission nebula that very few astrophographer seem to be paying attention to .
GUM 10 is a vibrant nebula, its red hues indicative of glowing hydrogen gas, while streaks of blue and teal suggest oxygen emissions. This nebula, aglow from high-energy photons from nearby young stars, is a lively region of star formation.
Neighbouring GUM 10, RCW 19 presents a softer luminosity, with glowing gases and dark dust lanes indicating active stellar genesis. Its pastel colors arise from the scattering and refraction of light from within its diffuse gas and dust composition.
